Good to Great # 39 Valentine Days special - Beyond Love

"You can STILL win"….could also be an apt title for Shiv Kheras book…as he constantly re-enforces that People who achieved were not always born with a silver spoon in their mouth, but dared to go beyond their limitations and still achieve.

More great thoughts from the book…

@ The winner is always part of the answer and the loser is always part of the problem.

@ If you want to succeed, double your failure rate.

@ Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength. Don't be a garbage collector – avoid bearing grudges

@ GOD helps only those ho help themselves.

The book tries to help the reader build his life into a successful and fulfilling one. On reading the book, You would ponder on what is the ultimate aim in life should be and how to achieve it.

2. Thought for this week

There are many people who have succeeded in life without education, money and even without arms or legs. There are many such achievers. But no person has succeeded in his/her life without self-confidence. Believe in yourself. Just believe that you are the right person for the job assigned to you. At the end of the day you will be amazed by the results.

3. Health …Food as Medicine

HEADACHE? EAT FISH! Eat Ginger
Eat plenty of fish -- fish oil helps prevent headaches.
So does ginger, which reduces inflammation and pain.

HAY FEVER? EAT YOGURT!
Eat lots of yogurt before pollen season.
Also-eat honey from your area (local region) daily.

TO PREVENT STROKE DRINK TEA!
Prevent build up of fatty deposits on artery walls with regular doses of tea.. (actually, tea suppresses my appetite and keeps the pounds from invading....Green tea is great for our immune system)!

INSOMNIA (CAN'T SLEEP?) HONEY!
Use honey as a tranquilizer and sedative.

ASTHMA? EAT ONIONS!!!!
Eating onions helps ease constriction of bronchial tubes. (when I was young, my mother would make onion packs to place on our chest, helped the respiratory ailments and actually made us breathe better).

4. Management quick tips..Steps for success

a. Be focused: If the sun's rays are focused on a piece of paper with a lens, the intensity of the conce! ntrated energy burns the paper. Focus on your objective will enhance the intensity of the effects of your efforts.

b. No Short Cuts to Success: There are no short cuts to success. Divide your overall goals into smaller targets. Divide your monthly plans into weekly and weekly plans into daily plans and see how simple can things be.

3. Take Risks: Without any risk no progress is possible. Life comes to a stable standstill. People who take chances are the people who get ahead in life .The only way to reduce risk is to! take risks.

5. Jokes corner..
A scientist and a philosopher were being chased by a hungry lion.
The scientist made some quick calculations, he said “it's no good trying to outrun it, its catching up”.
The philosopher kept a little ahead and replied “I am not trying to outrun the lion, I am trying to outrun you!”

Joke 2
Varanam Ayiram..(if Suriya's father – Mother love had happened Today in Chennai)
Hi Malini – naan dhan mae Krishnan; Naan idha unnanda solliyae avanum; Ayna nee avalavu ayaaga kira; Inga endha baymanium eppady sokka oru figurea parthirukka mattan. Appala naan unnai davadikirane.

6. Management thoughts - The Result of Initiative

Some years ago, three brothers left the farm to work in the city. They were all hired by the same company at the same pay. Three years later, Jim was being paid $500 a month, Frank was receiving $1,000, but George was now making $1,500.

Their father decided to visit the employer. He listened to the confused father and said, "I will let the boys explain for themselves."
Jim was summoned to the supervisor's office and was told, "Jim, I understand the Far East Importers has just brought in a large transport plane loaded with Japanese import goods. Will you please go over to the airport and get a cargo inventory?"

Three minutes later, Jim returned to the office. "The cargo was one thousand bolts of Japanese silk," Jim reported. "I got the information over the telephone from a member of the crew."

When Jim left, Frank, the $1,000 a month brother, was called. "Frank," said the supervisor, "I wish you'd go out to the airport and get an inventory of the cargo plane which was just brought in by Far East Importers."

An hour later, Frank was back in the office with a list showing that the plane carried 1,000 bolts of Japanese silk, 500 transistor radios, and 1,000 hand painted bamboo trays. George, the $1,500 a month brother, was given identical instructions. Working hours were over when he finally returned.

"The transport plane carried one thousand bolts of Japanese silk," he began. "It was on sale at sixty dollars a bolt, so I took a two-day option on the whole lot.

I have wired a designer in New York offering the silk at seventy-five dollars a bolt. I expect to have the order tomorrow. I also found five hundred transistor radios, which I sold over the telephone at a profit of $2.30 each.

There were a thousand bamboo trays, but they were of poor quality, so I didn't try to do anything with them."

When George left the office, the employer smiled. "You probably noticed," he said, "that Jim doesn't do what he's told, Frank does only what he'd told, but George does without being told."

The future is full of promise for one who shows initiative.

7. Cartoons..

Real
On customer service – here is a real incident on how valued customers are treated in other countries – this was in Australia

From Senthil = I just changed my electricity provider, and after 3 months I got this letter tempting me to join them.
See attachment and also the finer details on each tablet.
(Double click to enlarge)
In case it is not clear, the letter says, "It is hard to believe you that you have been gone for so long; Life is not the same without you.."

The tablets on the side include text such as "Miss You" , "Love", We're sad,"Come Back", "Say yes"...

Reel…On the lighter side…

8 .Thathuvam

The Depth of your character would be revealed in the way you respond to situations you don’t like.

Just 3 steps to enjoy life Ctl+Alt+Del

Del – Delete the situation which gives you tension

9. Tip for this week…. Email protection
How to set up an intruder alarm on your email account

This may or may not come as a shocker, but according to a recent FTC survey on identity theft, 16 percent of the victims said their information was stolen by people they knew, which included friends, relatives, neighbors, and coworkers. This is very important because it serves as a reminder that we need to take extra precautions whether we're at home or at work.
It's probably a good idea to disable cookies, so you don't save login and password information of your accounts, and you should never keep sensitive information where thieves can easily find it.

To find out if someone has accessed their personal email account, see this excellent post written by PCWorld's Erik Larkin on how to set a hacker alarm on your web mail box. This is a good way to find out if anyone besides you is logging into your email account.

Here's the gist:

1. Open an account with OneStatFree.com, and use a disposable e-mail address to complete the registration process.
2. You'll receive an email from OneStat with an attached file. Save the file, note the account number, and then delete the email.
3. Rename the file with a name that would catch a hacker's eye like "AccountPasswords." Save the .txt file as an .htm file so it opens up in a web browser.
4. Send an email with the .htm file to the account you want to monitor. Use a subject title that is eye catching.
5. Wait for the hacker to take the bait. If the attachment is opened by anyone else but you, the hit counter will record their IP address.
Hackers are very clever, so you want to change your password frequently to something that's a little harder to crack.

10. Valentines Day - Beyond Lovers

Valentines Day festival has grown beyond lovers in modern days to encompass just anyone and everyone we love. People can buy gifts , cards, flowers, etc. for their friends, spouse, parents, children, teachers or for anyone they find dear and express their love or affection for them.

Children can be encouraged to show their love for their siblings, parents, grandparents (Imagine what a surprise it would be!!!) and other family members. This could help to generate positive feelings for each other and create happiness in the family

YOU can choose this day to express Gratitude and affection to friends, colleagues and dear ones for their wonderful presence and support.

YOU can also perform acts of charity – Visit an orphanage, old age home or hospitals and support people who have a need for attention or affection.

YOU can also be a Organ Donor – PROVE YOUR LOVE to the World by donating your organs. Your Valentine’s Day today could mean that, five years after you are gone, several people’s lives will be saved. That’s better than any gifts, cards or chocolate. That’s proof of love.

And appropriately enough, February 14th is also National Organ Donor Day

So, On this day, I would like to Thank each of you for being my Friend and wish you all a Happy Valentines day. Go Ahead and rededicate yourself to your spouse, Children, your parents and to your friends.
