1. Its all about YOU … It's called Mindset!!

As my friend was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes they were tied to but for some reason, they did not. My friend saw a trainer nearby and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

"Well," he said, "when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free." My friend was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

So make an attempt to grow further.... Why shouldn't we try it again?

BUT NEVER FAIL TO MAKE AN ATTEMPT."

2. Thought for this week

Everything is difficult before it becomes easy.

3. Health – Yoga The Sun salutation – Suryanamaskar

Translation: The Sanskrit word surya means sun. Namaskar is the Hindi word for Namaste, from the root nam, to bow.Namaskar means salutation, salute, greeting or praise.

A Real experience from my aunt Shantha, who actively practices / teaches Yoga (Abridged)
" 15 YEARS AGO i did not know what was yoga until one day my husband was advised by doctor to do yoga for he was having slight increase in sugar. At once he learnt yoga from a local centre. I learnt from him. After that I began to practise yoga. Now I am doing yoga for the past 8 years. I feel good. It keeps me fresh the whole day. I have taught many students - Some came with back pain, some knee pain but after doing yoga they felt relieved. It is necessary in life for body care. For the last 8 years I have not visited the doctor at all. (Touch wood)BP. sugar headache body weight all comes under your control."

Sorry friends, My Aunt now lives in Melbourne , so you cant get to learn Yoga from her in India.
Ok – Let us go into asanas now… Suryanamaskar

4. Management quick tips.. Handbook 2009 - Society:

* Call your family n friends more often.
* Each day give something good to others.
* Forgive everyone for everything.
* Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.

5. Jokes corner..
My new secretary, anxious to please, hurriedly finished a letter and gave it to me for my signature. I detected a minor typing error, but signed the letter anyway.

Before she mailed it, the secretary also noticed her mistake, so she typed a revision and placed it on my desk with the note: "Please resign."

Joke 2.

A young woman went to her doctor complaining of pain.
"Where are you hurt?", asked the Dr.
"You have to help me, I hurt all over", she said.
"All over? Be a little more specific". said the Dr.

The woman touched her right knee with her index finger & yelled. "Ow, that hurts." Then she touched her left cheek and again yelled, "That hurts, too." Then she touched her right earlobe,"That even hurts," she cried.

The Dr. looked at her thoughtfully for a moment & said, "You have a broken finger."

6. Management thoughts..Insight into decision making

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?

Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make........ .........

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally. But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how farsighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.

The great critic Leo Velski Julian who told the story said he would not try to change the course of the train because he believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train's sirens..

If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track! Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

'Remember that what's right isn't always popular... and what's popular isn't always right.'

Everybody makes mistakes; that's why they put erasers on pencils.

Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.........

7. Parenting – Role of fathers…

There is no doubt that mothers play an all-important leading role in the lives of their children. They are the obvious heroes of child rearing. But what about a father's role?
Fathers play just as important a role as mothers. Different, yes. An important in the developmental and emotional well being of a child.

Dads are the solid foundation, to whom one can swim to when our arms and legs feel increasingly tired. They are the strength we can rely on as we take our first tentative steps into the world. Dads can be tender, tough, fragile or powerful but they are probably the most uncomplicated love we will ever know.

For daughters, Daddy is the first man they adore ... the first man whose eyes shine with overwhelming amazement when they look at us. He is the first man to fall in love with us.

For sons, Daddy is the idol they first aspire to emulate ... their mirror image of what will be and possibly the only man they will ever feel comfortable loving.

Daddy is the first man who held us, as a loving parent, with a lump in his throat so huge, only the joy of that love could erase the overwhelming pain of choking on unexpected raw emotion. When a father holds his newborn baby, he is touched by pure vulnerability for the first time in his adult life, leaving him forever humbled by the unexplained miracles of life.

For mothers, the father of our children is the one person we can trust to watch over our babies as closely as we would. We are secure in the knowledge of their love for our precious offspring. Dad is the only other person in the world as fascinated with every nuance and murmur of our babies.

10. Tip for this week….Grooming

Grooming means dressing well, to be presentable to others. You may want to give a little more attention to how you dress at work because what you wear may be substantially influencing your career path. Although nothing takes the place of talent, hard work, innate ability and ambition, looking your professional best in the workplace can give you a competitive advantage.

It simply means dressing in a way that projects an image of the sophisticated, successful working individual you are or would like to become.

Many companies have uniforms (Like mine), but still you need to be conscious of what you wear on days when you wear a colour dress

Men: SHIRTS - As a rule, the simpler the better.Colours: White, off white, pale, blue shirts are preferred; though you may wear dark coloured shirts too. (Here are the colours preferred by professionals).

It is important to button up your shirt till the collar button

Do NOT Wear - Thick Stripes or Checks

Women: You may wear salwaar kameez or formal shirt/trousers. Preferably choose small prints or self colours.

Avoid plunging necklines, sleeveless and tight fitting clothes
