When One of my colleagues came up and told me very excitedly that she has completed 2 years with the company, I was thrilled – Happy to share her excitement and also the fact that People value being with a great organisation.
How would you feel when your Boss, Colleague, peer, spouse, friend (never mind the different "titles" – read that as someone) remembers a significant date for you – Could be your Birthday, Your Wedding anniversary, joining date, etc etc. – and comes and wishes You or sends a small mail or a memento….wouldn't you cherish it and feel very happy and proud.

Maybe your day is already made!!!
Things would seem so much more positive and you start to feel much more light and problems don’t seem problems…you sometimes may seem to find simple solutions for difficult problems.
Ok, Let us envisage another scenario – What if, almost the entire department or team or group wishes you….How would that make you feel - On cloud Nine, I guess – Right!!!
On the other side of it – you might have already spent much more time in the same organisation – Say, 5 or 7 years…Of course, you would have definitely have contributed significantly to the company (relatively). So someone finishing 2 years is no big deal, right!!
Have they contributed something comparable to what you have done!! Answer is a BIG NO…!!!
Hmm….sounds like a tough call to be on which side on…
Let us swap roles & see from the other persons shoes….
Person who has been wished feels very happy and proud and could feel motivated.
On the other hand, the person wishing has nothing to lose – except for a couple of minutes; So why not we try it!!!
Also the reverse would start happening - from amongst the many people that you have wished surely there would be a number of people wishing you on your special days and make you feel even more special.
Side effects could be Employee engagement, loyalty, morale, etc – yes, we can give different terminologies…but the bottom line is – Connect with your teams, and see the results…it really works…!!!

Ahhhh…moving on to our personal side – yep – this works even better here – because of the already existing emotional Connect – of course, just through the ego part out and it works even better.
Bottom-line: Make genuine wishes and I am sure the world around you, would look a much more better place to live in…Just try it out!!
